Illustrated Legends - Horseman

headless-legless

On my way home through the forest thick
I should have thought this journey through
The trip by day is benign enough,
quite enjoyable as a matter of truth
Yet now, entirely different,
are the wooded trails by night

As comfort I remember the dance,
the drink and laughter of early
Night air has cleared my mind
And in the quiet I can hear
Another who is home bound

Gallops at a greater pace
would reach the bridge before I
And then I wonder
what ever became of Mr. Crane
